We are a traditional church that believes neither God nor His Word has changed. We believe that we must worship God in spirit and in truth. "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:23,24
Even though many Bible publishers, in order to make more money, promote new versions, we believe the King James Version is still easy to read and understand.
Even though "Christian" musicians are promoting every genre of music to make more money, we believe that church music ought to sound like church music.
Even though religions are teaching politically correct doctrines, we believe the truths taught in the Bible were settled in Heaven from the beginning.
Our History
Our church was started November 1, 1959 out of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Perryton, TX.
We are the only Independent Baptist Church in Hansford County.
We are a small family church that offers families an opportunity to worship God as a family.
Pastor Philip Hudson and his family have been leading us since August 19, 2007. Before they came to Spearman, Pastor Hudson and his family were missionaries in Uganda, East Africa.
What is an Independent Baptist
An Independent Baptist Church is independent of any outside influence like a denomination or convention. All of the money that is given to our church is under our authority to decide how to use it. We don't have to send a percentage to a headquarters somewhere that might use the money in ways with which we wouldn't agree.
We have the privilege of selecting our own missionaries to support. We have them come to our church and present their ministry. We then decide which ones we will support.
All of the messages and lessons that are preached and taught come from the pastor's personal study. Each teacher also has the liberty to teach as God leads.
"That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ." 1 John 1:3
The Way to Heaven
There is only one way to Heaven. Many today think all roads lead to Heaven. They think that as long as you are a good person, it doesn't matter what you believe.
That is opposite of the truth. The truth is, what you believe is important. The Bible teaches, salvation comes only by faith.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8,9
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Act 4:12
